What’s Going On?

jodi-weiner“I love the way she talks, don’t you?!” – Joy Behar, ABC – The View

Many of you visiting this site will know this line is one of the most perfect compliments for Jodi, especially coming from Joy! Jodi’s laugh is absolutely infectious, and there’s just something special about the way the woman can tell the perfect joke about Viagra.

What you may not know, is that on December 17, 2012 doctors were trying to uncover the cause of Jodi’s abdominal pains, and diagnosed her with Esophageal and Stomach Cancer.

The news was devastating to anyone and everyone who knows Jodi, and soon friends from far and wide were asking Vinnie, “How can I help?”

Well, here it is, gang. After a late-night phone call from Vinnie, in which he broke the news to me, I decided to put together this site to solve just that very query for friends and fans to help. (Have you seen what people have to say about the generosity of these two? Countless trips to entertain our overseas military, hundreds of shows at volunteer fire departments and other non-profits, and many, MANY benefits for people who fell ill and needed help.)

It’s our turn to give back. Jodi and Vinnie will be doing LOTS of traveling to Sloan-Kettering in NYC from their home in Upstate NY. Obviously neither of them will be working, so it’s going to be difficult to make sure all ends are met financially while Jodi is fighting this battle. Making a financial donation in any amount would be an incredible relief.

Whether you’ve worked side by side with Jodi or Vinnie, or simply seen them at a show or fifty, I know you appreciate all they’ve done for others, and I’m ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that their work on stage has brightened your life with laughter! This is a terrible time for anyone to go through, and it’s important that we come together as friends to help when we can.

You can enter the donation you wish to make in any amount, and the money goes DIRECTLY into Jodi’s account. No one ever has their hands on it except you, PayPal, and then Jodi and Vinnie themselves. Please be assured that your donation is safe and guaranteed to help two of our favorite comedians and comedy show producers feel one less burden during an already difficult time.

Thank you so much for coming to the site, and reading, and helping if you can. Whether you can donate financially or not, please use the sharing buttons available to let your friends know about Jodi and how they too, can help.

Sincerely,
Lara Kulpa
(A Friend)

I am so sad to hear that you are dealing with this – I always remember your laugh Jodi and and how much you always made me laugh and smile when I saw you or saw you perform – If anyone can beat this you can and I know you will – I live in Manhattan and go between here and back to my home in Atlanta – My place is empty a lot and not far from the hospital you will be using – Please let me know if you ever need a place to stay when you are here – I only have a one bedroom but when I am not here consider the place yours – or if Vinnie needs a place to crash or a meal or just to hang out we are here for the both of you …..If there is anything you need just let you know . You will be in my prayers every day and in my thoughts …..

Jodi is one of the most giving and selfless people who has a heart of gold. She has been there for me as a mentor, friend, and most of all mother since I was a little girl. I know that she will get through this because she has taught me that you can fight anything in this world if you stay strong and stay positive. It is now my turn to be strong for her and be the positive light, but I can’t do this alone. Both Jodi and my dad (Vinnie) need as much support as they can and every penny will be appreciated since this is a scary and difficult time for our family. Your gratitude and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated during one of the most difficult times.

Jodi, you were the one who supported and encouraged me when I wanted to be the funny girl on stage, and I will forever be grateful. That experience taught me that whether or not I become a star is irrelevant because the real gift was knowing that I could do something that made me scared and nervous. When you’re feeling scared, or nervous, or down, please remember that you are one of the rare people who have learned how to face life’s challenges head-on and plow right through them, and even without words you teach others around you that valuable lesson. Fight Jodi! I’m sending you all the love I have!

(and…I have been unable to get my donation to go through, any advice?)

    Jodi,

I’ve known you for such a long time and I know you can beat this. If you need anything at all, I’m here for you. Stay strong, stay positive and that will see you through, along with all the love and support for you.

    Jodi,

I have not known you for long, nor very well, but I can tell you this: you inspired me when I saw you perform at what was a wonderful night at the Myrtle in Lake George. You are an inspiration through your entertainment and I know you will be an inspiration to all of us during this battle of yours.

Much love to you and your family.

In the mid 90’s I ran a club in Allentown Pa.At the Ramada Inn….It is there where I started my comedy. And it is there where I met Jodi and Vinnie…2 of the funniest people I ever met. I remember when Jodi yelled in the mic and blew a speaker…the funniest thing I have ever seen and been a part of….She is truly a great comedian and Lady…And im glad to say I had the honor of working beside her and hope and pray that God heals this wonderful lady, And keeps Vinnie comforted in this time.

Brutal news to get right before the holiday. Kerri Louise and I are thinking of you. Of course we will donate and post to our social media. Chin up. Laughter is the best medicine, but pharmaceuticals are nice too. Our sons will mention you in their bed-time prayers, and they have God’s private #.

For the past 15years one of my favorite summer activities is spending a weekend at the Saratoga racetrack. So every mid June I would call jodi and vinnie asking, sometimes begging for a weekend date at one of there Saratoga area clubs.they always came through always apologizing saying they wish we could pay me more. I always replied the money doesn’t matter. It’s the hotel room I need. So now they need and I will be there for them .Donate what money I can and be available for any fundraisers for Jodi. This is one race that Jodi will win as she will be in my prays every day and we will spend another summer at the spa… Love Mitchell…..

    Jodi & Vinnie,

I am so heartbroken to hear this news. My wife and I met you both some 10 or so years back up in Lake George. You guys put on a wonderful comedy show!! Then the next day, you were also doing a karaoke show at the same place. I have never ever forgotten either one of you even after all these years.

    Jodi,
I will keep you in my prayers for you to get better soon.

Ok, Jodi, I saw your show and laughed til I cried, I’m from Warren County too, I’m headed to Sloan next week for a checkup, I’m so glad you are going there. They know their s#!t. I found myself in awe, at times overwhelmed with small kindnesses, but I did have 1 complaint and maybe you might relate: when on hold on the phone with them, all of the music is classical- I for some reason find that depressing! Maybe if you relate, you can complain, I’ll complain, possibly get some funky music on those damn phones. Now, whenever I have to call, it throws me back into that initial shock/numb/fear mentality you experience at diagnosis. Can it! Maybe a little Marley? Or Allison Krauss? LIFE music.
Hope that made you smile. Thanks for making my face hurt. You know, wedding day photos face hurt. I’m sending you good vibes and a donation too, and keep going, keep living right now! All the best.
